This year’s theme zeroes in on investment in girls’ rights as a core basis on which to build leadership and well-being. It calls for actionable commitments to ensure girls have what they need to succeed now and for life-a quality education, healthcare, economic opportunities, and a safe environment free of violence and discrimination.
Key Issues Facing Girls Today
Around the world, girls continue to face formidable obstacles that set them back, including but not limited to:
- Education: Poverty, cultural norms, and a lack of access to schools impede millions of girls from receiving education. Education is the basic right of all humans and the best lever for an individual or community to bring development, prosperity, and peace.
